A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Overview Foxborough Regional Charter School District (FRCS) is a unique and diverse school serving students from across Southeastern Massachusetts. Approximately 1500 students and families come from urban and suburban communities and represent various backgrounds, ethnicities, and experiences. Families in our three vibrant school communities (Elementary, Middle, & High School) speak over 20 languages and live in over 20 sending districts. Responsibilities:
Prepares for daily opening by unlocking the building, classroom doors, and turning on lights Sweeps/mops bathrooms Delivers materials and supplies to classrooms; maintains supplies closet Moves furniture as needed Cleans lunchroom between periods Assists in kitchen clean up Replenishes tissue, towels, and soap in restrooms, kitchens, and classroom facilities Empties wastebaskets and other trash receptacles Picks up paper and other trash in buildings and/or on school grounds Maintains clear sidewalks by sweeping and shoveling snow Maintains plantings and playground area; spreads mulch Reports damage or needed repairs to Maintenance Supervisor or Principal Performs minor repairs under direction of Maintenance Supervisor Preventative maintenance work in classrooms including opening and blowing out ventilators Prepares classrooms for school start Breaks down classrooms at year-end. Support safe and orderly movement of students into, through, and out of the cafeteria. Model professionalism by being present, attentive, and not using a cell phone while on duty. Terms:
Hourly Position M-F when school is in session 9:00 am - 2:00 pm Qualifications -
Required:
Candidates must be over the age of 18 Prior experience working with children or in a school environment preferred. Ability to maintain composure and professionalism in a busy, high-traffic environment. Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift moderate weight throughout the work shift. Energetic, flexible, team player Candidates are subject to background checks, including CORI clearance and fingerprinting Current authorization to work in the United States - Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment Physical Demands Required to stand for prolonged periods; occasionally move heavy objects such as furniture or equipment; operate power equipment such as buffers, scrubbers, burnishers, snow blowers, and various landscaping tools. Exposure to cleaning chemicals, dust, and weather conditions. Knowledge of precautions used to avoid exposure to cleaning and stripping compounds and fumes; and noise exposure from power equipment. Employee will frequently lift 50 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 70 lbs. Perform ground maintenance requiring periodic work outdoors in inclement weather, including snow removal activities. May require flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and emergency call-backs.
