Building Day Porter/Building Maintenance Technician Job Summary:

This position will be part of the Building Engineering team supporting and maintaining commercial office space. General duties will focus on custodial, janitorial, and daily cleaning duties the interior, lobby, and common areas of the building, as well as supporting various light exterior tasks. Typical responsibilities will include mopping floors, wiping down windows, dusting fixtures, vacuuming carpets, and emptying trash. During applicable seasons, the position will assist in clearing walkways of leaves or snow. Our ideal candidate is someone who will take pride in keeping the building beautiful, clean, and comfortable for all tenants and visitors. Applicants should have some professional cleaning experience or be familiar with cleaning products and equipment. The ideal candidate will take initiative in the role, anticipate problems before they occur as well as be able to communicate effectively with property management, staff, tenants, visitors, and vendors. The position will also provide added backup support and assistance to the Building Engineer and will be expected to progressively learn more technical maintenance duties and in doing so, develop an opportunity for promotion. The position will require on call building coverage and off hours response. Typical hours would be full time, 40 hours per week 6:30AM to 3:00PM Monday -

Friday Duties and Responsibilities:

Typically, will include the following but other tasks may be assigned.

• Perform cleaning or maintenance assignments as given via the work order system.
• Inspect all public lavatories per shift for cleanliness including cleaning mirrors, wipe down sinks, toilets, and remove dirt, mop floors, clean stains, empty trash.
• Maintain an adequate supply of toiletries such as soap, hand towels, toilet paper, sanitary products.
• Public areas are to be continuously policed and picked up throughout the day for removal of all litter.
• Empty exterior common trash receptacles, and police the parking lot for trash or debris.
• Building entrances are to be monitored and should always appear neat and orderly.
• Clean interior and exterior surfaces of common area windows, windowsills, and doors.
• Check elevator cabs for cleanliness, vacuum, clean cab doors and around cab buttons.
• Install and remove elevator protection pads or other protective equipment on an as-needed basis.
• Place and remove carpet runners or mats in lobby areas as required by weather conditions.
• Perform minor snow removal maintenance services as directed, including minor shoveling, sanding, salt spreading and sweeping of walkways and footpaths.
• Position may consist of continual lifting and adjustment of equipment and furniture as part of the cleaning process.
