Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Custodian - Short Term Substitute (Nights) Hingham Public Schools (MA) Hingham, MA Job Details Full-time $20.50 an hour 13 hours ago Qualifications High school diploma or GED Full Job Description Custodian - Short term Substitute Hingham Public Schools is seeking candidates to fill a short term substitute custodian position (2:00 pm - 9:30 pm). Primary responsibility of the Substitute Custodian is to assist in keeping the interior and exterior of school buildings clean. Responsibilities Perform assigned custodial duties both interior and exterior of the building Maintain stadnards of cleanliness, sanitation, orderliness, and safety Perform minor repairs as needed, reporting the need for more extensive repairs Set up and clean up for events Groundskeeping as directed Other duties as assigned Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalency, required Experience in custodial and/or maintenance functions Mechanical aptitude Heating and ventilation experience Strong work ethic Terms of Employment Temporary, non-benefit eligible. Anticipated dates of employment to begin as soon as possible and end approximately October 16, 2026 Physical and Environmental Demands Regular periods of physical activity require the ability to stand for long periods, walking, climbing, bending, crawling, and to lift, carry, and position objects weighing up to 50 pounds. The ability to make swift and responsible decisions in an emergency or hazardous situations. Must have the ability to observe details at both close and distant range. There may be periods of outside work in all extremes of weather. Interior work where the employee may be exposed to loud noise, extremes of heat and cold, and the use of various chemicals some of which may be hazardous and require special handling. May be required to ascend a ladder.
