Twelve-month position. See attached for further description.

QUALIFICATIONS

High School diploma or equivalent preferred. Individual has knowledge of

all aspects of facility maintenance, including, but not limited to Energy

Management Systems, pneumatic automatic temperature control systems,

generators, heating, plumbing and electrical, custodial equipment and

supplies, carpentry, ventilation, and alarms. Must be able to work

independently, supervise custodial staff, oversee contractors, interact with

the public regarding facility use and assist in budget development and

Management.

NOTE:

The successful candidate for this position will be subject to a preemployment

background check including CORI and national background

check by way of fingerprint.

$25.64

POSITION

DESCRIPTION

Directs and supervises custodial and maintenance services at Wellfleet Elementary School. This

assignment includes responsibility for the safe and efficient condition and operation of the school

buildings, grounds, and systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for the direction and supervision of all custodial personnel employed by the
    school.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with students, staff, contractors and other
    visitors to the facility.
  • Responsible for becoming thoroughly familiar with all aspects of maintenance as it
    pertains to the buildings, grounds and systems at the school.
  • Assists in the recruitment, employment, assignment, transfer, evaluation, discipline or
    dismissal of custodial personnel.
  • Maintains proper schedules of work routines for custodial personnel.
  • Assists in the preparation of the budget for maintenance, grounds, security and custodial
    supplies and equipment.
  • Recommends, where appropriate, the purchase of necessary equipment and supplies.
  • Organizes, implements and supervises a program of preventive maintenance.
  • Performs light maintenance, including carpentry.
  • Supervises the upkeep of school maintenance equipment. Makes recommendations,
    where appropriate, for changes and modifications to machines and equipment.
  • Directs the maintenance of all buildings and grounds as to cleanliness and safety. This
    includes such cleaning, snow removal and grounds maintenance, as appropriate.
  • Directs the preparation of playing fields, grounds and other necessary facilities for athletic
    and other school activities.
  • Receives, stores and issues all maintenance and grounds materials, supplies and
    equipment.
  • Coordinates vacation schedules for departmental personnel.
  • Conducts or arranges periodic inspections of all school facilities to ensure proper fire and
    safety procedures are in place and to identify and address possible hazards.
  • Maintains all required records, including Integrated Pest Management, as directed by
    administration.
  • Responsible for the proper operation of the pneumatic automatic temperature control
    system.
  • Responsible for supervising and directing the proper maintenance of the plumbing,
    heating, ventilating, air conditioning and electrical systems of the school.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the physical plant.
  • Maintains the school's clocks.
  • Contributes to efficient energy consumption.
  • Other duties as assigned.
