A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Porter/Technician

Habitat America, LLC is seeking a skilled

FULL TIME

(40 hours per week)

ENTRY LEVEL

Porter/Maintenance Technician. Homes at Foxfield is a 112 unit affordable housing apartment community in the heart of Salisbury, Maryland. This position is approximately 40 hours per week.



Applicants who are qualified for this position have 1-2 years prior apartment maintenance experience or experience in similar industry. Experience with basic appliance repairs, general carpentry, basic plumbing, basic electrical work, drywall and/or painting is a plus but not required! It is imperative that the Porter/Technician be able to work independently and also as a member of a team.



This position is responsible for grounds keeping of the community, cleaning of all common areas, assisting with technical matters related to basic apartment maintenance. In addition to grounds keeping and basic technical maintenance tickets, this position will assist with unit turnovers and be part of the after-hours on-call rotation. The Porter/Tech directly reports to the Community Manager. Hourly wage is dependent on experience and certification. Pay commensurate with experience.

E.O.E.JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Energetic, self-motivated individual who is able to work as a team
  • Some experience with the apartment maintenance or similar industry desired; basic appliance troubleshooting, drywall, and painting desired
  • Responsible for cleaning the building as well as completing basic technical apartment maintenance tickets
  • Responsible for apartment turn-over's and cleanliness
  • Must be able to understand and oversee work performed by contractors
  • Must have a pleasant and professional demeanor at all times- experience dealing with the public
  • Must have reliable transportation and possess valid driver's license
  • Requires extensive mobility and excellent physical condition
  • Must be able and willing to work weekends and be part of an on-call rotation
  • Willingness to assist at other locations in the immediate area, as needed.
