Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Veterinary Cleaning Associate to maintain the cleanliness, sanitation, and safety standards of our healthcare facility. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of healthcare environment cleaning protocols, including infection prevention and control practices, and will be committed to supporting a safe and hygienic environment for staff, clients, and animals. This role involves performing thorough cleaning tasks, handling cleaning chemicals safely, and ensuring compliance with all safety regulations to uphold the highest standards of sanitation in a veterinary setting. Duties Perform comprehensive cleaning and sanitation of veterinary examination rooms, kennels, surgical areas, and common spaces using appropriate cleaning agents and equipment. Handle chemical agents safely in accordance with OSHA guidelines and facility safety protocols to prevent contamination and ensure staff safety. Conduct laundry duties for bedding, towels, uniforms, and other textiles while maintaining proper handling procedures for healthcare-related laundry items. Utilize specialized cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, steam cleaners, and disinfectant sprayers to maintain hygienic surfaces. Follow strict environmental services procedures to prevent the spread of infections and maintain compliance with healthcare infection prevention standards. Assist with heavy lifting tasks using safe lifting practices when moving supplies or equipment to prevent injury. Maintain detailed records of cleaning schedules, chemical usage, and safety inspections to ensure ongoing compliance with health regulations. Collaborate with veterinary staff to ensure all areas meet sanitation standards necessary for animal health and safety. Experience Previous custodial or janitorial experience within healthcare facilities or veterinary clinics is highly desirable. Knowledge of OSHA regulations related to chemical handling, safety protocol adherence, and environmental services in healthcare settings. Experience operating cleaning equipment such as floor care machines, steam cleaners, or disinfectant sprayers. Familiarity with healthcare infection prevention and control practices is essential for maintaining a sterile environment. Demonstrated ability to perform manual handling tasks safely while adhering to safe lifting practices. Strong understanding of sanitation procedures specific to veterinary or medical environments. Excellent attention to detail combined with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting while maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
