Building Maintenance Engineer Position Summary:
This position is responsible for performing cleaning and maintenance duties to ensure CentroNía facilities remain clean, sanitary, safe, and functional for students, staff, and the community. The Janitor works full-time (8:00 PM - 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday) and will adhere to all applicable laws and regulations governing school hygiene and sanitation.
Essential Responsibilities:
Perform general cleaning and disinfecting of assigned areas within the school building and facilities, including classrooms, restrooms, conference rooms, offices, recreational areas (playgrounds), and common spaces (stairways, hallways). Clean, disinfect, and restock supplies in all restrooms within the assigned site(s). Sweep and mop floors according to established sanitation procedures. Empty all wastebaskets and transport trash and waste to designated disposal areas. Clean windows, glass surfaces, chalkboards/whiteboards, furniture, fixtures, and equipment as needed. Ensure assigned areas are properly cleaned and prepared for the following day. Report any maintenance needs, safety hazards, acts of vandalism, or emergencies immediately to the supervisor. Follow organizational standards and procedures for cleaning, disinfecting, waste handling, and the safe use of cleaning products and materials. Adhere to all safety, environmental, health, and fire regulations.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and move items, including cartons and boxes, weighing in excess of 50 lbs. Ability to move furniture or equipment as required for cleaning tasks. Requires the ability to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch for extended periods during the shift.
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 12 years of experience in a janitorial, custodial, or related position. Demonstrated knowledge of cleaning techniques, sanitation standards, and safety protocols. Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish) is strongly preferred.
