A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma required. Maintenance skills certifications preferred but not required. Strong work ethic; ability to work with students, staff, and community in a positive manner. Experience and mechanical ability preferred, but not required.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform regular custodial duties in assigned areas of the building;
  • Perform duties to include maintenance, waste management, supply management, and safety;
  • Assist in removing snow/applying salt to assigned entryways;
  • Ensure outside doors and windows are locked for security during and after school each day;
  • All other duties assigned by the Supervisor of Custodial/Maintenance or Building Principal;
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds;
  • Ability to communicate through e-mail, as well as knowledge of basic forms of technology;
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions;
  • Maintain good attendance
REPORTS TO
Custodial/Maintenance Supervisor and Building Principal RATE:
$18.69 plus benefits/per contract.
EVALUATION
Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Personnel.
