Position Information Position Title Part-Time Guest Services for Rockwell Lake Lodge Job Description Job Summary This is a part-time role that requires schedule flexibility based on customer needs. The primary function of the Guest Services worker is the appropriate care and maintenance of the physical aspects of the building to include guest rooms, meeting rooms, public areas, rest rooms and the adjacent exterior areas and the preparation and service of food service to guests and clients. Guest Services staff is responsible for maintaining an environment that is pleasing and inviting to prospective and current guests and clients while providing all amenities necessary to enhance a customer-driven service organization. Essential Job Functions Check guests in and out of the hotel, post charges, make changes/additions to guest profiles. Answer phone in professional manner; carry mobile extension phone as assigned. Maintain a clean entrance to the lodge and cabins. Daily removal of debris, litter, leaves and dirt from the entrance and entire length of sidewalk; emptying of trashcans; and cleaning of cigarette receptacles. Removing snow and ice from all Lodge and Cabin entrances where necessary. Clean and sanitize rest rooms daily and replenish supplies as needed. Maintain front lobby, great room, and lodge hallways by daily vacuuming, mopping and window washing. Clean carpets, upholstered furniture and conference chairs as needed. Set-up of conference rooms prior to events including thorough cleaning, vacuuming and dusting of room and setting room to customer expectations. Rooms are maintained to customer expectation while in use and are cleaned and returned to normal at the conclusion of the event. Maintain appropriate levels of cleaning supplies; care for and maintain all tools and equipment; properly store all equipment and supplies; monitor storage areas for neatness, cleanliness and supply levels. Strip or make-up daily the guest rooms, including cleaning bathroom floors, fixtures, mirrors, showers and sinks; vacuuming carpeted areas thoroughly; making beds and restocking linen as needed; dusting furniture and blinds, checking drawers and ice buckets; replacing all supplies and informational material as needed. Wash, dry, fold and store all Rockwell Lake Lodge linen in accordance with accepted and established laundry procedures. Assist with the cleaning and maintenance of the G. H. Gordon Biological Station Plym Village Cabins, including bunk areas, lab/classroom, kitchen and faculty apartments. Assist with the preparation, service and clean-up of food service for all lodge and bio-station guests. Responsibilities include food preparation for all contracted meals, dining service and dining/kitchen clean-up. Assist chef in meal preparation including cleaning and sanitizing the kitchen, trash removal, dish washing, serving guests and cleaning of the dining room. Perform or report various minor maintenance repairs for the safety and comfort of lodge or cabin guests and clients as necessary. Maintain good working condition of all AV equipment, reporting necessary repairs or replacement as required. Required Qualifications Education and Experience This position requires a high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience sufficient to demonstrate the ability to perform the job. Other Skills Ability to follow all appropriate health department standards in accordance with food safety, preparation, storage and clean-up. Ability to work flexible hours and willingness to cover for sick for vacation time, work overtime as needed and remain accessible in the event of emergencies. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and to effectively express ideas orally and in writing. Ability to complete job assignments unsupervised. Ability to follow safety procedures and operate department equipement, or a willingness to learn proper procedures. Physical Demands This position requires extensive walking, recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching or similar activities; recurring lifting of light, moderately heavy, and heavy items.
