A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Contribute to a safe working environment by following safe work procedures, wearing assigned personal protective equipment (PPE), actively participating in safety training and development of safe work procedures. Demonstrating an enthusiasm for enhancing the overall experience by providing clean, safe, and sanitary facilities that could include; walkways, stairways, bathrooms, kitchens, cafeterias, classrooms, or other areas assigned. Shovel, sweep, mop, clean, sanitize, vacuum, wax and buff various types of surfaces as assigned. Move and set up various types of furniture. Collect and dispose of recycling and waste. Supervision and safety training will be overseen by the Maintenance Supervisor. The Maintenance Supervisor will provide task-specific training and direction on individual projects.
