What they do
A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

- Responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and healthy learning environment for the children of Manistee Area Public Schools
- Provide custodial support to all District buildings, as directed
- Possesses good communication/interaction skills
- Cleaning, according to methods and schedule established by supervisor.
- Some light maintenance (snow shoveling, basic repairs, bulb replacement, attention to furnishings, operate/maintain equipment as needed)
- Training, compliance, and mandatory certifications (ex: OSHA)
- Set up and clean up events.
