The Custodial Substitute is responsible for providing temporary custodial coverage when regular custodial staff are absent or additional custodial support is needed. The position performs routine cleaning, sanitation, building maintenance, and facility preparation duties to maintain a safe, clean, and orderly environment for students, staff, visitors, and community members.QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or Equivalent Interpersonal skills Ability to facilitate and communicate clearly with staff and guests Ability to monitor and correct performance Satisfactory completion of required background checks and employment requirementsESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform routine cleaning and sanitation of classrooms, offices, restrooms, hallways, common areas, and other assigned spaces. Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and clean floors and other surfaces. Empty trash and recycling containers and properly dispose of waste. Clean and sanitize restrooms and replenish paper products, soap, and other supplies. Clean windows, doors, walls, furniture, fixtures, and other building surfaces as assigned. Assist with setting up and taking down rooms, furniture, and equipment for school activities and events. Monitor assigned areas for safety, cleanliness, damage, or maintenance concerns and report problems to the supervisor. Follow established procedures for the safe use, storage, and handling of cleaning supplies, chemicals, and equipment. Operate custodial equipment such as vacuums, floor machines, buffers, and other equipment as trained. Assist with snow, ice, spills, or other conditions that may create safety hazards, as directed. Maintain assigned custodial areas and equipment in an orderly and sanitary condition. Secure assigned areas and assist with building opening and closing procedures when directed. Follow all district policies and procedures, including safety, security, confidentiality, and emergency procedures. Maintain appropriate professional conduct when interacting with students, staff, parents, visitors, and the public. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Sitting, standing, lifting and carrying (up to 50 pounds), reaching, squatting, climbing stairs, kneeling, must be able to see and hear the entire classroom, and moving light furniture may be required.SAFETY AND HEALTH
Knowledge of universal hygiene precautions.EQUIPMENT/MATERIALS HANDLED
Must know how to properly operate or be willing to learn to operate all custodial and multimedia equipment including use of current technology; cleaning solutions and materials.WORK ENVIRONMENT
Must be able to work within various degrees of noise, temperature, and air quality. Interruptions of work are routine. Flexibility and patience are required. Job responsibilities may include both inside and outside duties. Must be self-motivated and able to complete job assignments without direct supervision. After-hour and weekend work may be required. Must be able to work under stressful conditions.TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
