Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Custodian to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across our facilities. This vital role involves performing a variety of cleaning and maintenance tasks to ensure the highest standards of sanitation and safety are upheld. The Custodian will play a key part in supporting the overall cleanliness and functionality of our spaces, contributing to a positive experience for staff, visitors, and students alike. Responsibilities Perform routine cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, and trash removal to maintain cleanliness standards. Handle various cleaning agents and chemicals safely, following all safety protocols to prevent accidents or contamination. Operate cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, scrubbers, and carpet cleaners to ensure floors and surfaces are thoroughly cleaned and well-maintained. Conduct heavy lifting tasks using proper techniques to move furniture, supplies, or equipment as needed while adhering to safe lifting practices. Maintain sanitation standards by disinfecting restrooms, kitchens, and high-touch areas regularly. Assist with minor facilities maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs or reporting larger repair needs to the appropriate team. Support custodial operations during special events, evenings or weekends. Skills Proven experience in custodial work or janitorial services with a strong understanding of commercial cleaning procedures. Skilled in handling chemical agents safely following chemical handling safety procedures. Knowledge of floor care techniques including buffing, stripping, sealing, and polishing floors. Familiarity with cleaning equipment such as vacuums, floor buffers, scrubbers, and steam cleaners. Ability to perform manual handling tasks involving heavy lifting while practicing safe lifting practices. Excellent customer service skills with a friendly attitude towards staff and visitors. Strong adherence to safety protocols and facility maintenance standards to ensure a secure environment at all times.
