A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES
Gather and empty trash cans and maintain clean containers Clean and supply designated building areas (dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning ceiling vents, restroom cleaning, etc.) Use cleaning solutions to remove stains and clean surfaces Clean interior windows, exterior lower windows, glass partitions, and mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees Dust and clean furniture and walls Clean and service restrooms with mops and disinfectants Carry out heavy cleansing tasks and special projects Notify management of occurring deficiencies or needs for repairs Stock and maintain supply rooms; requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning Cooperate with the rest of the staff Follow all health and safety regulations Deep clean restroom, scrub floors, walls, tile, and partitions Deep clean floors (strip, clean, and seal floors) in designated areas Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors post-operational hours and verifying electronic equipment is turned off Perform any other tasks requested by management, the company, or the owner The above list of essential job functions describes the general nature and level of work being performed in this job.
