A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Head Custodian, Principal Essential Duties:
Performs general labor inside and outside the physical plant including groundskeeping, handling materials and supplies, moving equipment and furniture, operating power-driven equipment, snow plowing, mowing, etc. Cleans and preserves designated spaces, equipment, etc. in the building within the scheduled time frame. Restocks disposable items and provides head custodian with inventory usage and data. Assists visiting public utilizing the facilities with directions within building in a polite, friendly manner. Assists in obtaining and setting up needed equipment. Maintains building and grounds security in the building each school day. Performs various maintenance tasks inside and outside of building such as minor electrical and plumbing, ceiling, roof, tile, glazing, insulation repairs along with normal operator adjustments and service to facility operational equipment. Maintains work related records and prepares various reports as directed. Other Duties as assigned.
