A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Head Custodian Days per year: 261 (year round position) Hours per day: 8

Schedule:

Student Days

Night Shift
2PM•10:30PM, M-F Non-student days and summer months•Day shift, four 10 hour shifts per week or five 8 hour shifts Additional $0.

75 per hour shift differential for student days. Additional $0.40 per hour for specials boilers license, additional $1.00 for second class boilers license. 12 Month, year round position position ISD 876 offers a comprehensive benefits package for employees working a minimum of 30 hours per week (130 hours per month average over a 9 month period). This includes health, dental, and vision insurance, Flexible Spending Accounts for medical and dependent care, as well as life insurance and long-term disability insurance.

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Head Custodian, the Custodian performs environmental service tasks, cleaning and maintenance of school buildings, minor mechanical repairs, and support services for day and evening school activities.
