A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Job Description

Position Overview The Custodian at Loyola Catholic School is responsible for ensuring a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. This role is vital in maintaining the high standards of cleanliness and operational efficiency that support the overall mission of the school. The Custodian will perform a variety of cleaning tasks, both routine and as-needed, to ensure that all areas of the school are in excellent condition. They will complete daily, weekly and monthly schedules to clean the school facilities, including but not limited to the cafeteria, classrooms, meeting rooms, offices, carpet and flooring, furniture, walls, and stairwells. Anticipated work hours will be from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. Monday - Friday.
Key Responsibilities Daily Cleaning:
Cleaning:
Sweep, vacuum, and mop classrooms and hallways.
Sanitization:
Disinfect restrooms and high-touch surfaces.
Waste Removal:
Empty trash and recycling bins daily.
Security:
Ensure windows and doors are locked at the end of the shift.
Safety and Compliance:
Ensure all cleaning products and equipment are used and stored in compliance with safety regulations. Participate in routine safety drills and inspections. Follow all school policies and procedures, particularly those related to health and safety.
Team Collaboration:
Work closely with other facilities staff, faculty, and administration to maintain a positive and supportive school environment. Provide support and coverage for other facilities crew members as needed. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Reliable transportation and consistent punctuality. Ability to stand, bend, and lift up to 40 lbs. Must pass a standard school background check. Must complete Virtus Training through the Diocese of Winona-Rochester No experience required; we will train the right candidate.
Pay:
$17.00 per hour
