Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for maintaining clean and safe facilities within the school district.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Keeps building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas, neat and clean at all times. Assists with the regulation of heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning systems to provide temperatures appropriate to the season and to ensure economical usage of fuel, water, and electricity. Shovels, plows, and ice melts walks, driveways, parking areas, and steps, as appropriate. Checks daily to ensure that all assigned exit doors are opened or locked and all panic bolts are working properly during the hours of building occupancy. Ensure that buildings are secure, as appropriate. Make sure all building are secure and locked at the end of each work day Cleans classrooms daily and dusts furniture per schedule. Cleans corridors each day and during the day when the condition requires it. Mops, scrubs, hoses down, and disinfects toilet floors daily, and cleans all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains daily. Replace light bulbs as directed to ensure proper lighting. Conducts periodic inspections of all electrical cords, lights and receptacles in the school to ensure their safe condition. Keep custodial equipment clean and in good working order. Report any safety concerns to the Custodial Supervisor, Director of Operations and Building Administrators. Other duties as assigned by the Custodial Supervisor, Director of Operations and school principals.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Dependable and Self Motivated
Any health, literacy, citizenship, or other such requirements.
Any specific skill mastery required.
Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Must be able to lift 60 lbs.
Able to be on feet for long periods of time.
Must be able to stoop, bend over, and climb ladders.
Must be able to reach overhead.
Demonstrate good judgment of using body protection as needed on different tasks assigned.
Must be able to work in all climate weather.
Must be able to read labels, instructions and other work related materials.
