Are you mechanically inclined and looking to build a long-term career in equipment repair and service? Lift Truck Center is seeking a motivated Shop Porter / Technical Assistant to join our Joplin team. This is more than a porter position—it's an opportunity to learn from experienced technicians, gain hands-on mechanical experience, and develop the skills needed to advance into a Field Service Technician role. If you enjoy working with tools, solving problems, and learning how equipment operates, we want to hear from you. What You'll Do As a Shop Porter / Technical Assistant, you'll work alongside our service team to support shop operations while gaining valuable experience with industrial equipment and repair processes.
Responsibilities include:
Assisting technicians with repairs and maintenance projects Cleaning, inspecting, and preparing equipment for service and delivery Loading, unloading, and staging equipment in the shop Picking up and delivering parts and tools Performing tire pressing and basic service support tasks Assisting with equipment preparation, inspections, and rental checklists Maintaining shop organization, cleanliness, and safety standards Supporting inventory, shipping, receiving, and parts operations Performing basic facility maintenance and yard organization Operating forklifts and industrial equipment after training What We're Looking For We're looking for someone who is dependable, eager to learn, and interested in building a technical career.
Preferred qualifications:
Mechanical aptitude and interest in equipment repair Technical school, vocational training, or coursework in diesel, automotive, industrial maintenance, welding, hydraulics, or related fields Experience using hand tools and power tools Strong work ethic and positive attitude Ability to work independently and as part of a team Attention to detail and commitment to safety Valid driver's license with a clean driving record No extensive technician experience is required.
