Job Summary The Custodial Assistant is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, orderly, and welcoming school environment throughout the academic year (August-May). This part-time position performs routine custodial duties under the direction of the Head Custodian, ensuring that classrooms, offices, restrooms, and common areas are clean, sanitized, and well-maintained. The Custodial Assistant supports the daily operation of the school by helping provide a healthy environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors while contributing to the mission of Catholic education.

Job Responsibilities Facility Cleaning & Maintenance Sweep, mop, and maintain floors throughout the school building. Vacuum and shampoo carpets and rugs in classrooms, offices, and common areas. Empty trash and recycling receptacles and ensure proper disposal of waste. Dust, wipe, and polish windows, furniture, fixtures, and other surfaces. Clean and sanitize classrooms, restrooms, hallways, offices, and shared spaces. Replenish paper products, soap, and other custodial supplies as needed. Facility Support Assist with seasonal and deep-cleaning projects as directed by the Head Custodian. Help with classroom, meeting, or event room setups and breakdowns when needed. Maintain custodial equipment and supplies in good working condition. Complete assigned tasks efficiently while maintaining high standards of cleanliness. Safety & Communication Report maintenance concerns, equipment issues, or safety hazards promptly to the Head Custodian. Follow all cleaning, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures. Use cleaning chemicals and equipment according to established safety guidelines. Communicate scheduling needs, absences, or operational concerns with the Head Custodian and custodial team in a timely manner. Help maintain a welcoming and well-kept environment that supports learning and the faith community. Job Requirements High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous custodial, janitorial, or facilities maintenance experience preferred but not required. Ability to work independently and follow established cleaning schedules. Dependable, punctual, and able to maintain a flexible part-time schedule. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers.
