About the
Role:
The Overnight Janitor plays a critical role in maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment within a manufacturing facility during non-operational hours. This position ensures that all workspaces, common areas, and restrooms are thoroughly cleaned and prepared for the next day's operations, directly contributing to workplace safety and efficiency. The janitor will be responsible for handling cleaning equipment and supplies, adhering to safety protocols, and identifying any maintenance issues that require attention. Working independently during overnight shifts, the janitor must demonstrate reliability and attention to detail to uphold the facility's cleanliness standards. Ultimately, this role supports the overall productivity and well-being of all employees by providing a hygienic and orderly environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in janitorial or custodial work, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing setting. Ability to work overnight shifts independently and reliably. Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals, supplies, and equipment operation. Physical ability to perform manual labor including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in occupational safety or hazardous materials handling. Experience with industrial cleaning machinery and floor care techniques. Familiarity with OSHA regulations and workplace safety standards. Strong communication skills to effectively report issues and coordinate with day-shift personnel. Demonstrated ability to follow detailed cleaning protocols and schedules.
Responsibilities:
Perform comprehensive cleaning of manufacturing floors, offices, restrooms, break rooms, and other facility areas during overnight hours. Operate and maintain cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers, vacuum cleaners, and pressure washers safely and effectively. Dispose of waste materials and recyclables in accordance with company policies and environmental regulations. Monitor and report any safety hazards, maintenance needs, or security concerns observed during the shift to the appropriate personnel. Restock cleaning supplies and ensure all janitorial equipment is stored properly at the end of each shift.
