In this vital role, you will be responsible for maintaining a spotless, sanitized environment within healthcare facilities by performing thorough cleaning, disinfecting, and sanitation tasks. Your efforts will help prevent infections, ensure compliance with health standards, and create a welcoming space for patients, staff, and visitors alike. This paid position offers an opportunity to contribute to a critical aspect of healthcare operations while developing your skills in environmental services. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive cleaning and disinfecting of patient rooms, examination areas, restrooms, hallways, and common spaces using appropriate cleaning agents and equipment. Handle laundry duties including sorting, washing, drying, folding, and distributing linens and uniforms in accordance with infection control protocols. Safely operate cleaning machinery such as floor buffers, vacuums, steam cleaners, and other janitorial equipment to ensure optimal sanitation standards. Manage chemical agent handling with strict adherence to OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) guidelines to ensure safe use and storage of cleaning chemicals. Follow established safety protocols during manual handling tasks such as heavy lifting of supplies or equipment to prevent injuries. Maintain detailed records of cleaning schedules, sanitation procedures, and inventory levels for supplies and chemicals. Support infection prevention efforts by adhering to healthcare-specific sanitation standards and environmental services best practices. Requirements Prior janitorial or custodial experience in healthcare facilities or commercial cleaning environments is highly preferred. Knowledge of OSHA regulations related to chemical handling, safe lifting practices, and workplace safety protocols. Experience with healthcare infection prevention and control procedures is advantageous. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently while following proper manual handling techniques. Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate professionally with staff and visitors. Familiarity with floor care techniques including stripping, waxing, buffing, and carpet cleaning is desirable. Ability to operate various cleaning equipment safely and effectively in a fast-paced environment.
