Job Description

Night Janitorial Supervisor / Working Lead Montana Building Maintenance is looking for a dependable Night Janitorial Supervisor / Working Lead to join our evening commercial cleaning team. This is a working leadership position, not a desk job . Our employees work independently, you will be expected to train them and then you will clean independently and alongside our crews, help our employees succeed, respond to evening problems, and help make sure our customers receive the level of service we promise. We are looking for someone who can lead by example, communicate clearly, and hold people accountable without creating unnecessary drama. What You'll Do Lead and support our evening crews Be a resource for employees and help solve problems as they come up. Check in with employees, make sure they have what they need, and help keep the evening running smoothly. When work needs to be corrected, show employees what needs to change and teach them how to do it correctly . Follow up to make sure corrections actually happen. Maintain customer standards Perform periodic building checks and monitor and correct cleaning quality. Identify problems before they become customer complaints. Help employees understand the expectations for their accounts. Handle your own cleaning assignments while remaining available to assist others. Work with the floor crew and help with evening floor-care needs. Communicate and hold people accountable Keep management informed about employee, equipment, supply, and building concerns. Recognize the difference between an employee who needs training and one who understands the expectation but is unwilling to meet it . Don't simply redo an employee's work night after night. Our goal is to develop employees who can do the job correctly themselves. When training and direction aren't working, communicate that to management so the problem can be addressed. Learn specialized floor care Learn MBM's procedures for VCT floor care, including stripping, refinishing, scrubbing, and related work. Approximately 10% of this position involves floor care , with training provided. You will be expected to drive a pickup truck and cargo trailer to haul equipment What We're Looking For The right person will: Be dependable and able to work independently. Have good judgment and be comfortable making decisions without constant supervision. Be comfortable giving direction, providing constructive feedback, and having difficult conversations when necessary. Be willing to train people rather than simply doing the work for them . Communicate problems instead of hiding them. Work effectively with different personalities, experience levels, and learning styles. Be organized and able to prioritize competing needs during the evening. Take pride in quality work while staying within the customer's contract. Lead by example. If you expect employees to do it right, you should be willing to do it right yourself. Previous supervisory or commercial cleaning experience is helpful, but a supervisor title is not required . We are more interested in your judgment, reliability, initiative, communication, and ability to lead. Schedule & Pay Monday through Friday evenings Approximately 5:00 PM start Approximately 38 hours per week Drive a company vehicle while on the clock Starting pay: $24/hour We have a clear advancement ladder How You Earn More Raises are based on demonstrated ability, not simply time on the job . As you grow into the position, we will look for you to become increasingly capable of: Leading the evening crews with less supervision Training employees effectively and following up Recognizing and addressing performance problems Making sound decisions independently Communicating problems before they become bigger problems Handling routine evening issues without needing management to step in Developing proficiency in MBM's VCT floor-care procedures In short: the more responsibility you can successfully take on, the more you can earn. You don't have to know everything on day one. We can teach you MBM's systems and procedures. What we can't teach as easily is reliability, good judgment, willingness to lead, and the ability to communicate honestly when something isn't working. About Montana Building Maintenance Montana Building Maintenance provides commercial janitorial and floor-care services throughout the Bozeman/Gallatin Valley area. Our evening crews take care of offices, banks, dealerships, and other commercial facilities. We expect our employees to take pride in their work, communicate when something isn't right, and work together to solve problems.

In your own words, what do you think the difference is between being a good cleaner and being a good supervisor? An employee has been trained on an account several times but continues to do the work incorrectly. You are already short-staffed, and replacing that employee would create more work for you. How would you handle the situation? This position requires you to work with a variety of employees who may have different personalities, experience levels, and ways of learning. How would you approach training someone who isn't picking up a task the first time? What type of vehicle will you be required to operate as part of this position? Will you have any issues passing a background check? This position has a clear pay advancement path based on demonstrated performance and increased responsibility.
