Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and energetic School Custodian/Maintenance Staff member to ensure our school environment remains clean, safe, and well-maintained. In this vital role, you will be responsible for performing a variety of custodial and maintenance duties to support a positive learning environment. Duties Perform routine cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, and trash removal across all school areas. Keep areas surrounding the building clean including lawn maintenance and snow removal from access/entry areas to the building. Operate cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, carpet cleaners, and pressure washers to maintain high standards of sanitation and appearance. Handle chemical agents safely during cleaning processes, adhering strictly to chemical handling safety procedures and safety protocols. Conduct minor repairs and maintenance tasks including plumbing fixes, light bulb replacements, and furniture adjustments to ensure facilities are operational. Assist with custodial projects such as floor care, buffing, industrial cleaning, and residential painting to uphold facility standards. Follow safety guidelines during heavy lifting or manual handling activities to prevent injuries while moving supplies or equipment. Maintain detailed records of cleaning schedules, maintenance activities, and safety inspections for accountability and compliance purposes. Provide excellent customer service by addressing staff or visitor requests promptly and professionally. Qualifications Custodial or janitorial experience in a school or commercial setting is highly preferred. Knowledge of cleaning techniques, commercial cleaning equipment, and sanitation standards. Experience handling chemical agents safely with an understanding of chemical handling safety procedures. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while following proper lifting practices. Familiarity with facilities maintenance tasks such as minor repairs or painting is advantageous. Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills for maintaining cleanliness records. Good communication skills and a customer service-oriented attitude. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
