A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Job Description

Performs semi-skilled manual labor regularly cleaning the buildings inside. Work is performed under direct supervision on all campus building.
  • Sweep, vacuum, and mop all floors, hallways, carpet, bathrooms and locker rooms.
  • Responsible for cleaning duties of 55,000 square foot building including 8 locker rooms, 8 bathrooms, pool deck, basketball court, bleachers, offices, fitness center, track, and hallways.
  • Dusts window blinds and sills; cleans inside of windows and mirrors
  • Operates and utilizes buffer, pressure washer, backpack vacuum and mop buckets daily or weekly as needed.
  • Interacts and communicates with various individuals and groups including supervisor, students, and faculty
  • Deep Cleaning of bathrooms and locker rooms daily including restocking, disinfecting, shower cleaning, and dusting ceiling tiles.
  • Work with custodial partner to complete daily duties and large projects.
  • Must be able to work flexible schedule nights and weekends as needed 40 hours per week.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Six months related experience and/or training
  • Equivalent combination of education and experienceMust be physically able to exert in excess of forty pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of twenty pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or standing, climb ascending or descending stairs, ramps, etc.
