A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Job Description
Must have high school diploma or equivalent. Must be fingerprinted and receive background clearance through the State Education Department Must be able to communicate positively with outside organizations, parents, students and faculty. Must perform duties as assigned by the Principal or Head Custodian. Must undertake any training relevant to your role. Must be a team player. Punctual and reliable Ability to prioritize work and work with minimum supervision. Must be flexible to the changing demands of the post. Ability to work both alone and with a team to achieve specified standards. Proven work experience as a cleaner Knowledge of cleaning methods, cleaning chemicals and supplies Ability to respect and value the different experiences, ideas and backgrounds others can bring to work and teams. Cleaner position list of responsibilities Clean bathroom basins and sinks Refill toilet and paper towel dispensers Replenish liquid soap in soap dispensers. Wipe and wash down bathroom tiles using appropriate cleaners and disinfectants. Clean & polish mirrors and wipe and residual paintwork Empty trash bins and place them in recycle receptacles. Scrub and mop floors using cleaner. 2.Vacuum rugs & carpets and remove stains using brushes and cleaners. Dust and mop hard flooring using appropriate cleaning devices (brooms, mop, etc) Cleans and dust furniture such as desks, chairs, etc Wipe down grubby hand marks and sanitize floors. Empty trash bins and clean/wash bins on a regular basis Remove marks from doors and windows. Clean telephones and extension phones
