As a Porter, you will perform cleaning, pot dishwashing and a variety of sanitary duties within the department as well as requisition, receive, store, inventory and distribute food and Food Service supplies . Your efforts can leave a positive impression on patients and their families every day. A caregiver in this position works days from 11:30AM - 8:00PM , includin g every other weekend and holiday . A caregiver who excels in this role will: Keep the work area neat, clean and organized by completing work assignments, utilizing proper sanitation procedures, cleaning equipment (refrigeration, hoods, ovens, fryer, ranges, etc.), practicing the "clean-as-you-do" policy, sweeping and mopping floors, remo ving trash and washing pots and pans. Operate, assemble, disassemble and clean the dish machine while ensuring proper temperature, chemical supplies and clean water levels are maintained . Transport clean and dried wares, supplies, food/beverage items, prepared meals, and patient food carts. Filter and t ransport use d hot grease to holding barrels. Report any equipment, personnel, safety, order, supply, assignment, recipe or quantity/quality discrepancy to immediate supervisor. Operate the garbage disposal, cart elevator (when necessary), trash compactor, grease filter machine, Wet Vac (with Ground Fault Indicator ) and dish machine . Prepare items for unit orders, stock supplies for units/offices, fill orders from inventory with proper documentation, adhere to order amounts and standard stock levels and monitor and return outdated products. L oad trays into patient carts, maintain ice in Cafeteria ice dispensers, fill chemical dispensers throughout department. Keep floors dry and free of litter or debris. Follow safety rules, regulations, procedures , u tilize provided safety equipment , fo llow directio ns/procedures on use of chemicals , and r eport any accident immediately to the supervisor. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Three months of experience in the same type o f work Understanding of orders/invoices Knowledge of mathematics to ensure extensions of invoices and supply levels are correct Aptitude and ability for food service and sanitation work Willingness to perform repetitious tasks on a continuous basis Ability to tolerate hands and arms frequently immersed in water and dishwashing compounds Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: High S chool D iploma/GED Dietary experience One year of experience as a
Porter Physical Requirements:
Ability to work rapidly to meet time deadlines performs work requiring continuous standing and lifting of materials (50 - 60 pounds) with high requirements for good eyesight and good arm and hand dexterity. Good eye/hand coordination essential. Ability to work most of the day while standing, walking, lifting, reaching, bending, carrying, climbing and pushing; a willingness to do Lead Porter work when required.
