A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Monday-Friday, 3:00 pm-11:30 pm (8 hours per day)

STARTING WAGE

$18.88-$19.65

High School diploma or general education degree (GED) Related experience Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and Board may find appropriate Exemplary verbal and written communication skills

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Ability to work effectively with others Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing Practical, active listening skills Organizational and problem-solving skills Knowledge of heating and cooling systems Knowledge of electrical and plumbing repairs Knowledge of safety procedures Training in the proper care and storage of chemicals, e.g., OSHA/PERRAC training Ability to read written instructions, warnings, and labels, and understand verbal directions Mechanically inclined with an attitude to do minor repairs, evaluate and assess mechanical concerns, and report the problems to the Head Custodian for further evaluation Acceptance of building use and the need for flexibility in cleaning schedules If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Sherry Lanza at hrbbhcsd@bbhcsd.org or (440) 740-4011.
