Creates a sanitary, safe, environment and enhances the appearance of the facility. Performs job functions primarily inpatient, discharge and surgical settings on a daily basis as assigned.

Responsibilities:

Cleans ancillary & emergency room areas, exam rooms, offices, waiting areas, public restrooms, and other assigned areas outpatient non-surgical settings. Cleaning duties include use of appropriate cleaning products in wiping down surfaces, cleaning spills, emptying garbage cans, cleaning furniture and other tasks as assigned. Stocks paper items and other supplies in exam rooms and restroom as necessary. Informs team leader and supervisory team when low on supplies. Follows departmental policies and standard operating procedures. Follows and adheres to hospital wide and departmental quality and safety requirements. Other duties as assigned.

Education:

High School Diploma/General Education Development (GED) preferred.

Complexity of Work:

Requires attention to detail, ability to follow directions and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Ability to learn and follow departmental policies and procedures, various cleaning and patient hospitality techniques, proper use and storage of cleaning agents and chemicals. Ability to communicate in a clear, courteous and caring manner. Must be able to work in a fast-paced cleaning environment. Ability to be flexible with work assignments.

Work Experience:

Requires one to three months on-the-job training to learn developmental policies and procedures, various cleaning techniques, proper use and storage of cleaning agents and chemicals.

Physical Requirements:

Requires full body motion, including ability to perform work while lifting, bending, stooping, crouching, squatting, and reaching. Requires continuous walking and standing on hard surfaces. Requires regular handling and use of disinfectants and other cleaning agents and chemicals. Light work - Exerting 11 to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
