A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

The East End YMCA in Madison is hiring a building monitor.
Available Shift:
Wednesdays, 4:30pm - 9:15pm, with opportunities to pick up additional shifts as needed.
Pay Rate:
$12.00 starting rate and a FREE Family YMCA membership
Requirements:
Ensure the Y is a safe environment for all members and program participants. Engage with all members and reinforce safety and membership policies as needed. Continuously walks through building ensuring all program areas are problem-free. Secure building and YMCA property during shift and report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor. Clean and sanitize assigned areas and includes tasks such as mopping, dusting, vacuuming, window washing and trash removal. May also include other miscellaneous housekeeping activities such as clean sidewalks during inclement weather. May be called to assist in the event of an emergency. Understand your role as a mandated reporter for elder and child abuse. Report and respond to situations in accordance with policies and procedures. Demonstrate and uphold the YMCA's core values of caring, honesty, respect, responsibility, and growth mindset in all aspects of your work.
QUALIFICATIONS
At least 18 years of age. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills. Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Light work. Exerting up to 30 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. The worker may be subject to noise. Occasionally subject to environmental conditions and unstable surfaces. Activities occur mostly inside.
Ability to:
Stand, sit, stoop, kneel, and crouch occasionally during the work shift; use hands and fingers for fine motor skills occasionally; walk on a variety of uneven surfaces and climbing stairs occasionally; receive detailed information through sound as well as express through spoken word and read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
