A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Position Summary Department Summary The Klamath Falls campus offers two housing facilities to allow students to stay on campus as they study, which comes with a host of perks. For additional information regarding the Department of Housing & Residence Life, please visit: https://www.oit.edu/campus-life/housing Position Summary Oregon Tech's department of Housing and Residence Life seeks applications for a Custodian. The purpose of this position is to provide effective cleanliness and operation of the residential facilities on the Klamath Falls campus. The employee will have daily contact with students, staff, and the public. The employee works closely with the Trades/Maintenance Coordinator and the Director to ensure high cleaning standards are met and excellent customer service is provided to all residents, staff, and guests. This position works Monday through Friday 7:00 am to 4:00 pm; with a willingness to perform prolonged physical labor, walk, bend, stoop, lift and climb in performance of duties. This position also requires a willingness to work with caustic cleaning agents, and to work in an environment containing dust, odors, and bio-hazardous materials (blood, excrement, etc.). Minimum Requirements Knowledge of standard custodial practices and the proper use of cleaning products. Ability to carry/lift up to 60 pounds. Ability to push/pull up to 150 pounds. Ability to walk/stand for extended periods of time. Ability to climb ladders. Current, valid Driver's License. Additional Requirements Experience working with people of diverse backgrounds. Experience with providing excellent customer service. Preferred Qualifications Experience with college students in a residential setting. Experience maintaining floors, including waxing and stripping non-carpeted floors. One year of experience working as a custodian in an industrial, commercial, or institutional setting. Experience using chemicals, as well as using large buffing and carpet cleaning equipment.
