General Position Summary:

Provides ongoing positive customer service and fulfills daytime custodial services contract requirements according to specifications. Ensures all tasks are completed in a safe manner and meet Garten quality standards.

Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:

Performs custodial services such as vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, and removing trash. Performs carpet and upholstery spotting, and other custodial services as requested by customer. Performs ongoing customer interaction in a manner which presents a positive image of Garten Services. Notifies customer representatives of any problems with facilities. Restocks custodial supplies for customer as needed.

Secondary Functions:

Ensures adequate customer satisfaction in absence of supervisor. Performs quality assurance. Provides input on ways the organization can create integrated employment opportunities for people with disabilities. Performs other related duties as assigned and requested by on-site customers.

Job Scope:

Performs duties independently with supervision, operates from established and well known procedures. Decisions are made within general company policy constraints and occasionally require independent decision making. Mistakes/errors may cause complaints from customers which might result in customer dissatisfaction up to the point of contact cancellation. This could have negative public relations as well as financial impact.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position is not supervisory in nature.

Interpersonal Contacts:

Has both internal and external contacts. The most frequent contacts are with external customers. The types of interactions, for both internal and external contacts, involve information exchange. Internal and external contacts are often made at the employee's own initiative with all contacts being face to face. At least 90% of all contacts are with external customers while 10% are internal.

Specific Job Skills Required:

Excellent communication skills. Must be able to balance working quickly with ensuring quality and maintaining customer service. Ability to make decisions, use independent judgment, and/or take independent action. Ability to provide customer service. Must pass criminal history check. Ability to notice detail. Excellent eye-hand coordination. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English. Ability to actively participate in team development and team-oriented processes. Physical ability to operate all phases of custodial tasks. Physical ability to operate custodial equipment, bend, twist, stoop, kneel, reach overhead, climb stairs, and make repetitive motions of the hands/arms. Physical ability to push/pull up to 50 pounds, to lift up to 150 pounds with assistance, and to carry up to 50 pounds regularly throughout a normal workday. Education and/or

Experience Required:

A minimum of 6-12 months experience/training in general custodial services. A high school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 1 year customer service experience.

Job Conditions:

This position requires the incumbent to work in an environment where there may be exposure to fumes, noise, poor lighting, poor ventilation, dirt, dust, chemicals, odors, building temperature fluctuations, and biohazards.

Other working conditions include:
