Facilities & Custodial Services Associate Position Summary Our faith-based institution is seeking a dependable, proactive, and service-oriented Facilities & Custodial Services Associate to help maintain a clean, safe, welcoming, and well-organized environment for our members, students, staff, visitors, and community partners. The Facilities & Custodial Services Associate is responsible for the day-to-day cleaning and upkeep of the facility, including public areas, bathrooms, kitchens, meeting rooms, and other spaces. This position also provides important support for institution programs and events by setting up and breaking down rooms, arranging tables and chairs, preparing and setting out food and beverages, laundering linens, and ensuring that spaces are ready for use. The successful candidate will take pride in maintaining the building, demonstrate attention to detail, work well independently and as part of a team, and interact with members, visitors, and staff in a friendly, respectful, and professional manner. Because we are a religious and community institution, the ability to work respectfully within a faith-based congregational environment is essential. Essential Responsibilities Custodial & Facility Maintenance Perform routine daily and weekly cleaning and spot-cleaning throughout the building. Clean and maintain bathrooms, worship spaces, kitchens, classroom areas, meeting rooms, offices, hallways, and other public spaces. Vacuum, sweep and mop floors; dust and sanitize surfaces; empty trash and recycling; and maintain overall cleanliness and appearance. Clean and restock bathrooms with toilet paper, paper towels, soap, and other necessary supplies. Launder and maintain table linens, cleaning cloths, and other facility-related items. Monitor the condition of the facility and report maintenance or repair needs to the appropriate staff member. Perform basic maintenance tasks, such as replacing light bulbs and making minor repairs, as appropriate. Event & Program Support Set up and arrange rooms for worship services, meetings, classes, receptions, and other synagogue programs and events. Arrange tables, chairs, and other furnishings according to event requirements. Set out and replenish food, beverages, dishes, utensils, and other items for programs and events. Assist with light food preparation and other hospitality-related tasks as needed. Break down and clean event spaces following programs and activities. Supplies & Inventory Monitor inventory of cleaning products, paper goods, bathroom supplies, kitchen supplies, and other facility-related materials. Maintain organized storage areas and notify the appropriate staff member when supplies need to be reordered. Customer Service & Teamwork Interact with members, students, visitors, and colleagues in a courteous, respectful, and professional manner. Work independently when assigned tasks and responsibilities. Maintain discretion and respect for the religious, cultural, and personal practices of members and visitors. Qualifications & Requirements High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous custodial, facilities, hospitality, event setup, or related experience preferred. Knowledge of basic cleaning methods, equipment, and safety procedures. Ability to safely use and handle common cleaning products and equipment. Basic ability to perform minor facility maintenance and repairs. Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining a clean and orderly environment. Dependable, punctual, organized, and able to prioritize tasks effectively. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks associated with cleaning and event setup. Flexibility to adjust work hours occasionally to accommodate synagogue programs, events, services, or other facility needs. Ability to pass a background check. Pay:
$16.00 - $20.00 per hour Expected hours: 17.5 - 20.0 per week
