Overview Under general supervision, the Custodian cleans and performs routine maintenance to keep assigned Township facilities safe, orderly, and presentable. The Custodian cares for assigned areas and equipment and works reliably, efficiently, and professionally in compliance with Township policies and safety requirements. This position is part of a union work environment and requires adherence to the collective bargaining agreement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Cleaning and Facility Care Clean offices, meeting rooms, communal areas, restrooms, stairways, and other assigned spaces. Sweep, mop, scrub, strip, wax, and polish hard floors. Vacuum and clean carpets, rugs, upholstery, and window treatments. Dust, clean, and polish furnishings, fixtures, equipment, walls, doors, windows, and related surfaces. Keep assigned facilities clean, orderly, and serviceable. Restrooms and Supplies Clean and sanitize restrooms and replenish supplies. Monitor inventory, request reorders, and safely store custodial products and equipment. Waste, Recycling, and Grounds Empty waste and recycling containers and moving materials to designated disposal areas. Remove litter and maintain areas around Township buildings. Routine Maintenance, Equipment, and Records Replace light bulbs and perform minor routine maintenance. Inspect, clean, and maintain custodial equipment and small tools. Report equipment or building damage, unsafe conditions, and maintenance needs. Maintain supply, equipment, and Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS). Replace unserviceable flags at the Township Building. Facility Setup and Support Set up and clean rooms and furnishings for meetings, programs, and events. Transport small equipment, tools, supplies, and materials inside the building. Assist other departments with related tasks as directed. Safety, Conduct, and General Responsibilities Follow Township policies, procedures, and safety rules, including required protective equipment. Safely manage, store, and dispose of cleaning products and chemicals. Treat employees, officials, residents, visitors, contractors, and the public professionally. Protect confidential information and perform related duties as assigned. Winter Maintenance and Snow Removal Monitor and address snow and ice hazards around assigned facilities. Clear pedestrian areas and apply approved de-icing materials as needed Safely operate, maintain, and store snow-removal equipment and report problems promptly. Qualifications Preferred Experience Related custodial, housekeeping, or building-maintenance experience is preferred but not required. Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Valid Pennsylvania driver's license throughout employment. Required background clearances and drug testing. Special Requirements Must be able to obtain and hold Commonwealth Law Enforcement Assistance Network (CLEAN) clearance.
