Job Overview Join our dedicated team as an Evening School Custodian, working from 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM to ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. In this vital role, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of school facilities, performing routine custodial tasks, and supporting the overall upkeep of the premises. Your proactive approach will help foster a positive learning environment and uphold safety standards throughout the school campus. Duties Perform comprehensive cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, dusting, trash removal, and restroom sanitation to maintain a pristine environment. Operate and maintain cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, vacuums, and carpet cleaners to ensure effective floor care and sanitation. Handle chemical agents safely by following proper chemical handling safety procedures during cleaning and maintenance tasks. Conduct heavy lifting and manual handling of supplies, furniture, and equipment while adhering to safe lifting practices. Maintain floors through buffing, polishing, and other floor care techniques to ensure a high standard of cleanliness and safety. Support facilities maintenance activities including minor repairs, painting (residential painting skills preferred), and general upkeep to enhance building appearance. Follow safety protocols diligently during all custodial activities to prevent accidents or injuries and ensure compliance with safety regulations. Skills Proven experience in custodial or janitorial roles with knowledge of commercial cleaning standards. Strong skills in cleaning techniques, sanitation practices, and the use of cleaning equipment. Ability to handle chemical agents safely while following all chemical handling safety procedures. Experience with floor buffers, buffing techniques, and comprehensive floor care management. Excellent customer service skills to interact positively with staff, students, and visitors. Physical strength for heavy lifting tasks combined with safe lifting practices to prevent injury. Facilities maintenance knowledge including basic repairs and painting is a plus.
