THE POSITION
Become a Custodial Worker 1 with the Wernersville State Hospital, Department of Human Services. In this role, you will help keep living areas, offices, and other spaces clean and safe for everyone on campus. You will have the opportunity to work with a supportive team that values responsibility, teamwork, and attention to detail. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position helps maintain clean, safe, and orderly areas throughout the hospital campus. Your work supports patient care by providing custodial services, responding to cleaning needs, and assisting with linen delivery. As a Custodial Worker 1, you will perform the following duties:
Daily Cleaning:
Clean living units, offices, hallways, and other areas across the hospital campus
Linen Duties:
Deliver, sort, and prepare linens and clothing for use throughout the facility
Equipment Use:
Operate custodial equipment safely and report needed repairs
Emergency Response:
Handle urgent cleaning needs such as spills, flooding, or isolation procedures
Outdoor Tasks:
Assist with snow shoveling, walkway cleaning, and maintaining building entrances
Basic Maintenance:
Replace light bulbs and assist with moving furniture and larger items when needed Interested in learning more? Additional details regarding this position can be found in the position description.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Work schedule may change based on operational needs. Rotating weekends and holidays as assigned Overtime and travel as needed Free parking The Department of Human Services provides excellent benefits, pay increases, paid leave and holidays, as well as opportunities for career advancement.
