Director of FacilitiesPOSITION SUMMARY
This position performs cleaning of specified sections of school buildings within the District. This includes the cleanliness and neatness of individual classrooms and rest rooms as well as the office and corridor spaces and public meeting areas. The work is primarily independent in nature and new assignments are received in the form of oral or written instructions from the Director of Maintenance and Custodians.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Sweeps, washes walls and mirrors, mops and disinfects teacher and student lavatories, shower rooms
- Replenishes supplies in assigned lavatories, shower rooms and locker rooms
- Mixes cleaning agents in accordance with manufacturers labels
- Uses all custodial cleaning materials in a safe and responsible manner
- Empties wastebaskets, replaces bags in wastebaskets and garbage receptacles and recycling baskets
- Is responsible for basic building security. This includes insuring that the building is empty prior to locking doors and setting alarms and that all lights are turned off
- Strips, washes and spot cleans carpeting
- Moves district furniture as required
- Cleans windows
- Washes walls, light fixtures and removes graffiti
- Required to clean up after student accidents using the appropriate personal safety equipment
- Operate buffers, burnishes and auto scrubbing machines
- Inventories custodial supplies and keeps the Director of Maintenance and custodians informed as to usage and the need to reorder
- Delivers/moves supplies, materials, mail, lunches etc. with the School District
- Shovel snow and/or ice on steps and walkways and sand steps and walkways
- Informs the Director of any fire/safety hazards with the District buildings and grounds
- Sweeps immediate building entries and empties trash outside the cafeteria, playground and other areas adjacent to the building
- Performs other duties as required
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

- High School Diploma or equivalency (GED)
- Experience gained through employment in related custodian work
- Must lift light to medium weight materials or equipment up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis, over 50 pounds on an occasional basis
- Requires a valid driver's license
- Attend training as required by the school district
