A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Function
To provide students with a safe, attractive, comfortable, and clean place in which to learn, play, and develop.
Qualifications
High School Diploma
Must be in sufficiently good enough physical condition to perform physical duties such as sweeping, mopping, cleaning, lifting, etc.
Ability to work cooperatively with faculty and staff.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Performance Responsibilities
Sweeps and vacuums floors daily.
Mops all classrooms and hallways when needed.
Dusts furniture daily.
Cleans corridors after school each day.
Cleans janitorial closets properly on a daily basis and stocks restrooms appropriately.
Mops bathroom floors, and cleans all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains daily.
Scrubs, hoses down, and spray foam disinfects bathrooms at least 2 times per week.
Washes all windows on both the inside and outside at least twice each year, and more frequently if necessary.
Keeps wastebaskets empty and clean.
Maintain cleanliness of outside of building
Reports to supervisor any acts of vandalism, any evidence of deliberate littering, and any behavior that is demeaning to the custodian/maid.
Supervisor may assign other duties as needed.
Physical Requirements
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly to walk, sit, stand, and reach with hands and arms, stoop or kneel, and crouch.
Additional physical requirements include the following: Physically capable of lifting or moving up to 40 pounds.
Sufficiently mobile to ensure the safety of students.
Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus.
Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
