A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.
We are seeking a Custodial Supervisor to oversee the cleanliness and maintenance of assigned areas while leading a team of general cleaners. This is a working supervisor role : 60% hands-on cleaning40% management & leadership
Key Responsibilities:
Organize, schedule, assign, and perform daily cleaning tasksSupervise custodial staff to ensure quality and productivity standardsTrain employees on cleaning procedures, equipment, and chemical usage Lead and enforce all safety protocols and provide PPEInvestigate and report accidents or injuriesManage inventory, supplies, and equipmentHandle scheduling, payroll, and team coordinationConduct inspections using company standards and toolsAddress performance issues and support disciplinary actions when neededRespond to building emergencies (fire, flood, snow/ice, etc.)Assist with large cleaning projects and coordinate with management
Requirements:
Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience (custodial preferred)Strong leadership, training, and communication skillsBasic computer knowledgeCustodial and cleaning knowledge requiredBasic mechanical understanding is a plus
Physical Requirements:
