Responsibilities Perform thorough cleaning of designated areas, including floors, restrooms, offices, and common spaces using appropriate cleaning equipment such as floor buffers and sanitation tools. Handle cleaning chemicals safely by following all chemical handling safety procedures and protocols. Conduct manual handling tasks involving heavy lifting and safe lifting practices to move furniture, supplies, or equipment as needed. Maintain high standards of sanitation by disinfecting surfaces, waste removal, and ensuring compliance with safety protocols. Operate cleaning machinery efficiently, including floor buffers and other custodial equipment, to ensure optimal floor care and buffing results. Assist with light maintenance tasks such as minor repairs or facility upkeep to support overall building maintenance efforts. Follow all safety guidelines during cleaning procedures to ensure personal safety and that of colleagues while adhering to safety protocol adherence. Experience Prior janitorial or custodial experience preferred, with a solid understanding of commercial cleaning practices. Experience handling cleaning chemicals safely and knowledge of chemical agent handling best practices. Familiarity with floor care techniques including buffing, polishing, and using floor buffers. Background in facilities maintenance or general custodial duties is advantageous. Customer service skills are beneficial for interacting professionally with staff or visitors when needed. Physical ability to perform manual handling tasks involving heavy lifting while maintaining safe lifting practices. Previous porter experience or residential painting background can be an asset but is not required.
