PRIMARY PURPOSE

\nSupervise assigned staff while directing, coordinating, and evaluating activities custodial personnel at the\nelementary campus level. Perform routine custodial cleaning and maintenance procedures to maintain a high\nstandard safety, cleanliness, and efficiency building operations and grounds.\n

QUALIFICATIONS

\nEDUCATIONCERTIFICATION\nHigh school graduate or equivalent\nMust have ability to read, write, speak, and understand English\nMust have ability to direct activities subordinates\nMust be capable lifting up to pounds throughout workday\n

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGESKILLS

\nAbility to operate custodial equipment\nAbility to properly handle cleaning supplies\nAbility to train, redirect, and evaluate staff as needed.\n

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE

\nOne year as campus custodian or equivalent in related field\n

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

\n. scloses buildings as assigned.\n. Ability to handlemeasureuse cleaning chemicals.\n. Must be capable to work from a ladder.\n. Ability to train subordinates.\n. Dust furniture, equipment, and other items in work area.\n. Washes walls, woodwork, windows, and chalkboards, as necessary.\n. Empties trash from work areas and remove it to dumpsters.\n. Replenishes restroom supplies as needed.\n. Issues additional cleaning assignments to staff, as necessary.\n. Inspects building for cleanliness, making corrections as needed. Forwards inspection reports to Custodial\nSupervisor.\n. Picks up exterior litter and debris near the building.\n. Sweeps sidewalk and entrance area.\n. Takes appropriate correctivedisciplinary action, when necessary, with peers.\n. Sweeps, scrubs, waxes, and polishes floors, using broom, dust mop, wet mop, and power cleaning equipment.\n. Cleans classrooms, hallways, lounges, restrooms, offices, stairs, elevators, gyms, cafeteria, and other assigned\nareas.\n. Performs project cleaning as assigned.\n. Secure building by checking and locking doors.\n. Responsible for all other activities and duties assigned by supervisor.\n. Report maintenancesafety problems to supervisor.\n

\nLead Custodian\n. Assist in setting up special activitiesevents and moving furniture as needed.\n. Ensure all equipment used is maintained and cleaned as appropriate.\n. Respond to emergency calls for accident or illness.\n. Prepare cafeteria and assist in mealtime services (help with trap pick up, garbage and trash, clean-up).\n. Receive incoming custodial supplies per procedure.\n. Immediately remove graffiti from walls and fixtures.\n. Communicate professionally while interacting with staff, students, and visitors daily.\n. Maintain custodial closet in clean and neat condition.\n. Completes daily assignments according to established work schedule.\n. Performs inspections and records results to assure conformance to standards according to an established\nfrequency\n. Monitors cleaning supplies and equipment used daily. Reorders items on a timely basis as needed.\n. Monitors electrical cleaning equipment for unsafe conditions. Immediately corrects or submits a request for\nrepair for any equipment found to be damaged or inoperative.\n. Maintains close contact with building designee to respond timely to any requests for services. Stays aware of\nspecial campus functions that may require changes in work assignment.\n. Responsible for all other activities and duties assigned by the Custodial Supervisor, Building Designee, or\nOperations Director.\n

TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT

\n. Will train in all areas custodial operations, including daily cleaning procedures, hard surface floor\nmaintenance, and carpet care.\n. Will make use training or seminars offered to enhance leadership or supervisor skills\n. Will attend training seminars set up by the Operations Department to familiarize employee with new\nequipment andor cleaning supplies.\n. Will assist the Custodial Supervisor by ensuring that heshe knows and understands the hazards involved with\nthe chemicals used on that campus.\n
