A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Job Description
•This is a part-time position eligible for benefits
• Acceptable Experience and Education High school diploma or equivalent and six (6) months of custodial experience. Or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Certificates, Licenses, and Other Requirements None required of this position. In order to access into the County's network and systems, a personal smart device is required by the hire start date. Essential Duties Responsible for completing cleaning schedules, ensuring proper tools, supplies, materials and equipment are ordered/transported to work sites; Drives to and from all county buildings, as needed; Operates simple to moderately complex equipment, e.g. mops, vacuums, waxing machinery; Utilizes various cleaning, disinfecting and waxing chemicals and compounds; Prepares assigned equipment for safe and efficient operating condition by inspecting prior to and after use; Performs and schedules regular and preventive maintenance and repair for equipment under charge; Ensures a safe work zone by proper use of signage and cleaning chemicals and equipment; Sweeps, mops, strips, waxes, and polishes floors; dusts and polishes furniture and fixtures; Vacuums rugs and carpets; shampoos carpet when necessary; Cleans doors, windows, and walls; Empties wastebaskets and trash; Performs recycling; retrieves recyclable items from participating departments; Cleans rest rooms; replenishes supplies when necessary; Receives and transports shipments from the loading dock; records items on inventory; Performs setup and takedown of tables and chairs; arranges conference rooms and building lobby special events; moves furniture; Provides support to the maintenance mechanic staff; changes light bulbs; changes air filters; hangs pictures; Performs routine grounds maintenance and landscaping around primary facilities; Substitutes, if assigned, during temporary absences by performing delegated duties sufficient to maintain continuity of normal operations; Commits self to providing excellent customer service and demonstrate commitment through cooperative team and individual efforts; and Creates a high-quality work culture through participation in and emphasis on training and mentoring to develop leadership, management, and technical skills in self and all employees, including safety related training and skills. Other Important Duties
• Performs such other related duties as may be assigned. Works with minimal supervision. As members of the County of El Paso Emergency Response System, all El Paso County employees are designated as Disaster Service Workers during a proclaimed emergency and may be required to train on emergency response and/or perform certain emergency services at the direction of their supervisor. Summary of Position The Custodian under direct supervision, performs routine cleaning and janitorial duties for specific areas during an assigned day or evening work shift.

Minimum Requirements:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of:
custodial equipment, supplies, practices, and procedures; potential hazards of the materials and equipment used in performing assigned tasks; occupational safety rules and practices associated with performing duties.
Skill/Ability to:
operate custodial equipment; plan, coordinate and supervise the performance of simple to moderately complex contract cleaning tasks and projects; perform manipulative tasks requiring eye/hand/foot coordination; perform heavy manual tasks; receive, understand, and carry out verbal and written instructions.
