Job Title:
Hospital Environmental Services Technician (EVS) Job Description This role focuses on maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary hospital environment by thoroughly cleaning patient rooms, discharge rooms, and public areas. The Environmental Services Technician plays a key part in supporting patient care and safety by adhering to strict sanitation standards in a fast-paced medical setting. Responsibilities Clean and sanitize patient rooms, including occupied and discharge rooms, following established hospital protocols and sanitation standards. Clean and maintain public areas such as lobbies, restrooms, hallways, and other common spaces throughout the hospital. Wipe down and disinfect high-touch surfaces, furniture, fixtures, and equipment as required. Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors to maintain a clean and safe environment. Collect, remove, and properly dispose of trash, biohazard waste, and soiled laundry in accordance with hospital procedures. Replenish supplies such as paper products, soap, and related items in restrooms and other designated areas. Follow all infection control and safety procedures, including proper handling of cleaning chemicals and equipment. Work collaboratively with hospital staff to respond to cleaning requests and maintain a high standard of cleanliness and safety. Adapt to additional cleaning tasks and special projects as assigned by supervision. Rotating weekend coverage in a 24/7 hospital environment. Essential Skills At least 1 year of housekeeping or janitorial experience. Ability to work comfortably in a medical environment, including exposure to blood, trauma, and other clinical conditions. Capability to lift and push 50-75 pounds as part of daily duties. Ability to stand and be on your feet for 6-8 hours per day. Strong attention to detail and commitment to meeting sanitation and safety standards. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience in a hospital or hotel setting is preferred. Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a close-knit team. Willingness to follow detailed cleaning protocols and infection control procedures. Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based in a hospital setting that operates around the clock and moves at a fast pace. The facility is well maintained, with high standards for cleanliness and sanitation, particularly for the environmental services team. You work on the 2nd shift from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., including rotating weekends, and collaborate closely with a tight-knit group of staff in one of the smaller hospitals in the health system. The role involves frequent standing, walking, lifting, and pushing, as well as working in clinical areas where exposure to medical situations, including blood and trauma, can occur. Dress and appearance must be neat, professional, and appropriate for a hospital environment, including any required protective equipment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Georgetown, TX 78626. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
