Location:
Ben Lomond High School General Purpose Responsible for the general maintenance and operation of the school building. Duties include maintaining, repairing, and/or operating the school building, equipment, and grounds. Main Tasks and Responsibilities Clean and sanitize restrooms/bathrooms using established practices and procedures. Clean, dust, and wipe furniture; sweep, mop, or vacuum floors; empty/clean wastebaskets and trash containers; replace light bulbs; refill restroom dispensers. Assist with the setup of facilities for meetings, classrooms, conferences, events, etc. Strip, clean, buff and apply floor sealer and floor finish to hard surface floors, vacuum and shampoo carpets. Use and maintain assigned power equipment and hand tools; buffers, auto scrubbers, extractors, high speed buffers and vacuums, brooms, mops, and squeegees for the cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, furniture, etc. Wash walls and equipment; use ladders when required in work assignments.
Lock and unlock assigned buildings:
secure buildings when facilities are not in use checking for unlocked doors and windows, report any unauthorized occupants, turn off the lights. Follow instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies. Move furniture, equipment, supplies and tools on an incidental basis. Wash accessible interior and exterior windows, clean blinds, and launder cleaning rags and dust mops. Report major damages to the Maintenance Department for repair. Tend to emergencies when necessary. Attend safety meetings and other related meetings. Take classes as required in cleaning methods and techniques, new products, First Aid, CPR, and working relationships. Handle recycling materials. Remove garbage from the parking lot. Clear snow as needed. May trim trees and bushes. May mow, edge, and weed eat lawns. Education and Experience A High School Diploma or equivalent. Six (6) months of related experience. Knowledge of use and maintenance of industrial cleaning equipment and appliances. Knowledge of safe disposal of chemical liquids and other hazardous components. Working Conditions and Physical Requirements The job regularly requires above average strength and/or stamina. Job duties may involve lifting and carrying of heavy materials/objects (50-100 pounds). Occasionally work is carried out in disagreeable conditions. Exposure to adverse working conditions, inclement weather, dirt/dust, noise or fumes, and/or exposure to possible accidents, health hazards or minor injuries produce an environment that involves adjusting to or accommodating these uncomfortable conditions.
