A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the EVS Manager, the incumbent in this position is responsible for deep cleaning, sanitizing, and maintaining attractive public and team member areas. Responsible for servicing assigned areas using provided chemicals and equipment according to the department standards and procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
(These functions are intended as a general illustration of the work performed in this job classification and are not all inclusive for this position) Creates an atmosphere that induces guests to make Hard Rock Sacramento at Fire Mountain their choice for gaming entertainment; responsible for actively building and retaining guest relations and acts as a mentor to team members in order to provide superior guest service. Observes and reports needed maintenance to the building, fixtures, and equipment; reports any loss, damage or breakage of property, or threat to safety. Maintains security of assigned areas, keys and equipment; maintains supply and equipment storage areas. Works as part of a team directed by EVS Supervisors to deep clean and maintain: carpets and upholstery; tile and wood floors; marble and other stone surfaces; concrete floors and decking; and other exterior areas. Sweeps, dust mops, and wet mops hard surface floors; vacuums, sweeps, and/or picks up carpeted areas; removes gum and carpet spots; vacuums upholstered furnishings and fabric; repositions furniture and equipment after cleaning. Assists in stripping, waxing and refinishing; carpet and upholstery restoration; pressure cleaning; buffing, polishing, and recoating; in diamond polishing and restoring marble; and other deep cleaning procedures. Operates powered walk-behind and ride-on cleaning equipment: automatic scrubbers, buffers, carpet extractors. May assist or substitute in general cleaning of property: removing trash, cleaning restrooms and gaming areas; assists in emergency clean-ups and provides coverage for absences. Attend and participate in meetings. Perform work regularly and predictably. Responsible for cleaning and sanitizing work and public spaces. Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND /OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
(Related education and experience may be interchangeable on a year for year basis) These skills and abilities are typically acquired through two months of on-the-job training or through related janitorial experience.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
(Licenses, Certifications, Testing, etc): Must obtain and maintain valid licenses / certifications per Federal, State and Virginia Lottery regulations. Must successfully pass background check. Must successfully pass drug screening. Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age. Must be able to work holidays and weekends, as well as flexible shifts and/or unusual hours.
KNOWLEDGE OF
Basic hand and power tools and testing equipment. Excellent guest service skills and communication skills. Janitorial duties.
ABILITY TO
Be flexible to work varying shifts and time schedules as needed. Lift objects up to 40 pounds, and push/pull/move objects of that weight or more. Communicate effectively with all levels of employees and guests. Review and comprehend all necessary documentation. Routinely handle potentially hazardous cleaning chemicals and wastes; requires strict adherence to supervisor's safety instructions and compliance with all safety policies and procedures. Regularly use powered cleaning equipment.
