Overview We are seeking a dedicated Janitor/Cleaner to join our facilities maintenance team. This role is vital in ensuring that our environment remains clean, safe, and welcoming for all occupants and visitors. Duties Perform routine cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and vacuuming to maintain cleanliness in all designated areas. Handle and operate cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, scrubbers, and vacuums with proper safety procedures. Sanitize restrooms, kitchens, and common areas following established protocols to ensure health standards are met. Manage waste disposal efficiently by emptying trash receptacles and recycling bins regularly. Conduct heavy lifting tasks safely when moving furniture, supplies, or cleaning materials in accordance with safe lifting practices. Apply chemical agents safely during cleaning processes, adhering strictly to chemical handling safety procedures. Maintain floors through buffing, polishing, and other floor care techniques to preserve appearance and durability. Assist with minor facilities maintenance tasks as needed, including residential painting or light repairs. Follow safety protocols diligently to prevent accidents and ensure a secure working environment. Support other custodial staff or porter team members in completing larger cleaning projects or special events. Skills Proven experience in janitorial or custodial roles within commercial, industrial, or residential settings. Strong knowledge of cleaning techniques, sanitation standards, and custodial equipment operation. Ability to handle chemical agents safely and follow chemical handling safety procedures meticulously. Skilled in manual handling with a focus on safe lifting practices for heavy objects or equipment. Excellent customer service skills to interact professionally with staff and visitors when necessary. Familiarity with facilities maintenance tasks such as minor repairs or painting is advantageous. Competence in operating floor buffers and performing comprehensive floor care routines. Attention to detail coupled with the ability to work independently or as part of a team effectively. Good organizational skills for managing supplies and scheduling routine cleaning tasks efficiently. Knowledge of safety protocol adherence to maintain a secure work environment at all times.
