Job Description
Job Overview:
The Industrial Cleaner is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment throughout the pellet mill and dryer areas of the facility. This position performs physically demanding manual labor to remove wood dust, wood fiber, bark, and other debris using hand tools such as shovels, rakes, brooms, and dust pans. The Industrial Cleaner plays a vital role in supporting safe operations, reducing housekeeping hazards, and ensuring production areas remain clean and accessible.Key Responsibilities:
Clean wood dust, wood fiber, bark, and debris from the pellet mill, dryer, and surrounding production areas. Perform housekeeping duties using manual hand tools including shovels, rakes, brooms, brushes, and dust pans. Remove accumulated material from floors, walkways, platforms, stairs, and equipment areas. Dispose of collected debris in designated containers or locations. Keep work areas organized and free from trip hazards and excessive dust accumulation. Assist with general plant housekeeping as directed by supervision. Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including lockout/tagout and confined space requirements when applicable. Properly wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times. Report unsafe conditions, equipment issues, or housekeeping concerns to supervision. Work safely around moving equipment, conveyors, forklifts, and operating machinery. Perform other manual labor and housekeeping duties as assigned.Requirements:
Previous industrial, manufacturing, construction, agricultural, or general labor experience is preferred but not required. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Dependable attendance and a strong work ethic. Willingness to work in a dusty industrial environment.Physical Requirements:
- Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Perform repetitive shoveling, sweeping, raking, bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, and reaching throughout the shift.
- Stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Climb stairs and work on elevated platforms as needed.
- Work in varying temperatures, including hot and cold conditions.
- Tolerate exposure to wood dust, noise, vibration, and other manufacturing conditions while wearing required PPE.
