QUALIFICATIONS
1. 21 years of age and is in good physical health, and can do moderate to heavy lifting up to 50 pounds as frequently as necessary. 2. High School diploma or GED equivalent required. 3. Possesses some knowledge of building cleaning practices, supplies, and equipment, or demonstrates a genuine desire to learn within the probationary period and thereafter. 4. Possesses the ability to follow simple oral and written directions. 5. Possesses the ability to climb ladders, stand for extended periods of time, push or pull objects, walk, reach(above shoulders, overhead, and horizontally), and operate custodian equipment and tools while being subject to environmental conditions, hazards, atmospheric conditions, cleaning chemicals, and furnace or boiler by-products. 6. Possesses knowledge of HVAC and electrical systems. 7. Demonstrated the ability to use cleaning supplies and equipment economically and efficiently during the probationary period and thereafter.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Sweeps, vacuums, buffs, strips, waxes, and dust mops assigned areas. 2. Removes trash at regular intervals and as needed from rooms and buildings and places in containers and dumpsters. 3. Scrubs and cleans restrooms, including mirrors, wash basins, commodes, and sinks. 4. Fills tissue, towel, and soap dispenser, and disinfects as needed. 5. Dust furniture, walls, window sills, and other woodwork. 6. Stacks cafeteria chairs and/or tables as required. 7. Washes windows, walls, and woodwork, dusts venetian blinds. 8. Cleans drinking fountains. 9. Cleans school grounds as needed. 10. Mows lawn, trims shrubbery, and cultivates flowers using hand tools and power tools. 11. Assist with snow and ice removal, including the operation of tractor. 12. Set up rooms and spaces for special events. 13. Moves furniture, equipment, and supplies. 14. Performs basic repair work, including painting, minor plumbing, desk, chair, and locker repairs. Replace ceiling tiles and light bulbs. 15. Cleans storage rooms and equipment and orders, unloads, and stores supplies and deliveries from vehicles. 16. Checks freezers and coolers to ensure functional operation. 17. Checks and secures school premises to protect against vandalism and theft. 18. Attends in-service training to develop and improve knowledge and skills in building service work. 19. Checks boiler(s) and circulation pump(s) if appropriate. 20. Checks exit lights, fire extinguishers, and pull stations. 21. Works with HVAC and electrical systems. 22. Performs related tasks as assigned by the school principal.
