A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Job Description

Burke Town School seeks a Part-time, full-year Custodian. This job includes customary cleaning, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, removing trash, restocking bathrooms, etc. Minor maintenance, including repairs and painting, moving furniture during the summer, assistance with snow removal in the winter, etc. Additional custodial duties include securing the building, preparing for special events, operating of typical custodial equipment such as floor machines. We maintain a collaborative team environment where flexibility and cooperation are expected. Strong interpersonal skills for interactions with colleagues, staff, and students are a must. The pay range for this position is currently $17.21/hr.-$23.57/hr.

Burke Town School is part of the Kingdom East School District and is located in the heart of a vibrant community in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. We operate seven preK-8th grade schools ranging from 60 to 500 students. Our high school students have choice and may opt to attend one of the traditional independent schools -- Lyndon Institute or St. Johnsbury Academy or another high school of their choosing. We are located about 3 hours from Boston, Montreal and Portland, ME. Our region is known for breathtaking views and access to great skiing, hiking, mountain biking, fishing, canoeing and other outdoor opportunities. We are close to the White Mountains and the Green Mountains. Both Littleton, NH and St. Johnsbury, VT have numerous fine and performing arts venues.
