Position Summary:

Cleans all areas of the Hospital, Extended Care, and Verbeck Building facilities in a professional manner, reflecting the highest integrity of the Environmental Services Department in providing a safe and clean environment for patients, residents, staff, and visitors.

Position Responsibilities:

General floor care: sweeping, vacuuming, mopping.

Frequently use industrial floor care tools and equipment, scrubber/buffer, and industrial floor stripper chemicals/cleaning products. Performs routine cleaning of patient rooms, nursing units, Surgery, Lab, Radiology, offices, and clinical areas, waiting areas, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, elevators, and stairways in a clean, neat, and sanitary manner.

Utilizes the appropriate chemicals and supplies according to procedure, replenishes supplies when needed;Uses and maintains equipment properly.

Assists visitors with directions whenever requested.

Transports trash and hazardous waste to the appropriate disposal area.

Follows all infection control practices, including hand washing techniques, standard precautions, and isolation precautions.

Maintains set quality standards when performing job duties.

Observes safety precautions at all times. Assists the department in the responsibility for successfully fulfilling standards and criteria of licensing and accrediting agencies. Represents North Valley Hospital and facilities positively and professionally by communicating the mission, ethics, and goals of North Valley Hospital. Maintains organizational confidentiality at all times. Works collaboratively with peers and team members, using tactful, diplomatic communication techniques in potentially sensitive or emotionally charged situations. Takes leadership responsibility, including planning and completing duties with minimal direction from the supervisor when appropriate. Attends and participates in staff meetings, in-services, projects, or committees as assigned or requested. Assists in the training of new staff. Follows up with appropriate staff, residents, or other individuals regarding reported incidents, complaints, problems, and concerns. Assists with quality assurance programs when indicated.
